Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Turn Unused Connectivity OFF:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity off when not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings
- Tap Location for additional GPS options
- Tap Mode and turn Battery saving ON
- For Hotspot settings, go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when they are not actively in use. By disabling or remove unused third party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Apps and select All apps in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the device, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change the sync settings of your apps/accounts to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and as such its recommended to keep the software updated at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one device restart)
