Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Battery” under “Device”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Bluetooth”, “Location” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for additional options and access “Location” (GPS)
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Go back to “Settings” for additional options and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the “brightness” slider towards the left
  3. Next launch “Settings” and tap “Display” under “Device”
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Minimize Third party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Apps”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account and account type
  4. Change the desired sync settings to reduce sync

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available for download
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
