Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Tap Battery under Device
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Bluetooth, Location and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings for additional options and access Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings for additional options and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the feature OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Next launch Settings and tap Display under Device
- Optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Minimize Third party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account and account type
- Change the desired sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life, and its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require at least one reboot)
