Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Press Menu
- Turn Battery saver ON
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- From the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Next launch Settings and scroll to Device
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to prevent the device from scanning networks unnecessarily and improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Location, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings and access Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Access Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type and enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Apps
- Make sure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Tap the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
