Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data to be restored automatically when signing in with the backup account or when you reinstall backed up applications

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for the backup
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked, then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
  5. Copy and paste the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) of origin or the “Media” directory
  6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
