Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the “Brightness” slider towards the left
  3. Launch “Settings” for more options and tap “Display” under “Device”
  4. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot – to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” under “Device”
  3. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” to turn the app off
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by minimizing the amount of data synced by your accounts. To do this:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and the account
  5. Disable the desired sync options

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
