Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the Brightness slider towards the left
- Launch Settings for more options and tap Display under Device
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and Hotspot to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Location for GPS options then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps under Device
- Ensure All apps is selected in the drop-down menu
- Select the desired app
- Tap Force Stop to turn the app off
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Settings to Reduce Sync:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by minimizing the amount of data synced by your accounts. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and the account
- Disable the desired sync options
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
