Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Press “Menu”
  5. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. In the Notification area drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not in use, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Go back to “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS options
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. To disable hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot”
  8. Turn the feature OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ sync settings to reduce the amount of data synced and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the desired settings to reduce sync

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when not in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Go to “All apps”
  5. Select the desired application
  6. Tap “Disable” or “Force stop”
  7. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
