Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. For additional options open “Settings”
  4. Tap “Display” and turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Access “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable your phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS – you can avoid unnecessary network scans and conserve battery life.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn the features off
  3. Go to “Settings” for additional options
  4. Tap “Location” for GPS settings
  5. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings" for hotspot options and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature OFF

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery life and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve the battery until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such you can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the phone to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps” and ensure “all apps” is selected
  3. Tap the desired application
  4. To turn the app off, tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to confirm
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and the desired account
  5. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS update can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Go to “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the updates (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
