Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease it
  3. For more options go to “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout duration like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not actively in use you may avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Location”, “Bluetooth” and “Wi-Fi” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for GPS options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Hotspot, return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and turn the features OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks”
  4. Go to “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery performance even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps” and make sure you view “All apps”
  3. Select the desired application
  4. Tap “Disable” or “Force Stop”
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data synced by them, you may improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings” and access “Accounts”
  2. Select the desired account type
  3. Select an account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
