Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease it
- For more options go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- Tap Sleep and select a lower timeout duration like 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use you may avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Location, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to turn the features OFF
- Open Settings and go to Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Hotspot, return to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the features OFF
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery performance even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and make sure you view All apps
- Select the desired application
- Tap Disable or Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing your accounts settings to reduce the amount of data synced by them, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings and access Accounts
- Select the desired account type
- Select an account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
