Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
- For additional options, go to Settings
- Access Device > Display
- From here you can optionally turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options tap Sleep and preferably, select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Minimize Third-Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Make sure to view All apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Disable or Force Stop
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: you can try improving battery life by lowering the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type
- Select the desired account
- Change the desired settings to reduce sync
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Battery
- Tap menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features OFF when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn these features OFF
- Launch Settings and go to Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable hotspot, go back to Settings and tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Access Tethering & portable hotspot
- Disable Hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a power bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Go to Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Access mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such, its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:
- Launch Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
