Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen
  3. For additional options, go to “Settings”
  4. Access “Device” > “Display”
  5. From here you can optionally turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  6. For timeout options tap “Sleep” and preferably, select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Minimize Third-Party Apps:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. Make sure to view “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Disable” or “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: you can try improving battery life by lowering the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Select the desired account
  5. Change the desired settings to reduce sync

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Battery”
  3. Tap “menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features OFF when not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. In the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to turn these features OFF
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. To disable hotspot, go back to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Access “Tethering & portable hotspot”
  7. Disable Hotspot

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a power bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such, it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
