Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, access “Sleep” and select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Location” for more GPS options
  4. Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. For hotspot options, go back to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have the possibility to recharge it, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phone’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to try and improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. If necessary, go to “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” / “Disable”
  5. To remove an app, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
