Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- For more options, go to Settings
- Tap Display
- Turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use such as Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth you can avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- In the quick toggle area, tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Launch Settings
- Go to Location for GPS options
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Apps and switch to All apps
- Select the desired application
- To disable the app, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Access Settings
- Go to Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can provide improvements to battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
