Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for contact syncing
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked, then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts can be restored automatically the next time you log in with your backup account or by manually syncing the account data, including contacts, with the Android phone.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
  6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media backup files on the computer storage
  5. Transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” folder
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage and you can safely disconnect the device from the USB port
