Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, return to “Settings” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower value such as “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS settings
  5. Tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks”
  4. Tap “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. If necessary, select “All Apps”
  4. Tap the desired application
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an account type and the desired account
  5. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include battery improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check fi a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
