Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options, return to Settings and tap Sleep
- Select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when they are not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Go to Location for GPS settings
- Tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the feature
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- If necessary, select All Apps
- Tap the desired application
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps, you may be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates and check fi a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
