Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Launch Settings for more options and go to Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value such as 15 seconds
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings for more options
- Go to Location and tap Mode
- Enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and turn the features Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Go to Preferred network type
- Select 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can potentially improve battery life in the long run by changing your account settings to reduce sync.
- Open Settings and go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Launch Settings
- Access About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (the process will require you to reboot the device at least once)
