Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and go to Display
- Turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF depending on your preferences
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the devices connectivity features when they are not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Hotspot, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings for more options
- Access Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the features
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks
- Access Preferred network type and enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Third-party applications can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. You can disable or remove unused third-party apps from the device to potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select All apps
- Tap the desired app
- To disable the app, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You may improve battery life in the long run by changing your accounts settings to reduce sync.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve the battery and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
