Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Go to “Display” and optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. Tap “Sleep” for timeout options and select a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” for GPS settings
  5. Then tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  6. Go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  7. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot’ and turn the features off

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Go to “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G’

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You may be able to improve battery in the long run by changing your accounts’ settings to reduce sync.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps”
  3. Go to “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To disable the app, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates area available for download:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if new updates are available
  4. Check if new updates are available
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (the process will require at least one reboot)
