Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery” > “Menu’
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Display”
  4. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  5. For timeout options, go back to “Settings” and tap “Sleep’
  6. Select a lower timeout duration like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can disable the phone’s connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improver battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. From the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Launch “Settings” and access “Location”
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and turn the feature Off

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “mobile networks”
  4. Access “Preferred network type”
  5. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life, so you might improve battery life in the long run by disabling or removing unused third-party apps.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Apps’ and switch to “All apps” if necessary
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to turn the app off
  5. To remove the app from the device, tap “Uninstall”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select an account type
  4. Tap the desired account
  5. Change the settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “About phone” > “System updates”
  3. Verify if a new update is available
  4. If so, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the update process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
