Palm Pre and the plus version

I see the Palm Pre and Palm Pre Plus versions are the same price, so what's the difference and why is it not a different price? Surely if it's plus and the same price, everyone will go for that thus no need for the normal version.

Sprint Pre is 8gb, Verizon Plus is 16gb and can be set up as a hotspot for an extra $40 mo. Sprint is cheaper to run month to month but verizon has better coverage so in the long run verizon can sell thephone cheaper and makes more money overall.
