Enable Power Saver Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Under Phone, tap Power > Power saver
- Select the boxes associated with the features you want to enable during Power saving mode
- Tap the Power saver switch to enable the feature
Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout:
- Access the Settings menu
- Swipe to Phone and tap Display & gestures
- Tap Brightness level and clear Automatic brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease luminosity
- Go back to Display & gestures and tap Screen timeout
- Choose a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches to OFF
- Under Wireless & networks, tap More
- Tap Mobile network sharing and turn off Mobile Hotspot
- Go back to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode > Battery saving
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Open Settings
- Tap Mobile data > Network mode
- Select GSM only to enable 2G only
- To use 3G / 4G, select WCDMA only or GSM / WCDMA auto / GSM / WCDMA / LTE auto
Change Sync Settings and Turn off Background Data:
- Access Settings and tap Accounts & sync
- Select an app to disable background data
- For sync options, select an account (NOTE: options will differ from one account type to another)
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phones battery life even if you dont use them assuming that the apps perform regular processes in the background. Thus you can improve battery life by disabling or removing unused third party applications.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Apps under Phone
- Select an app from the Downloaded tab
- Tap Disable to turn off the app
- To remove it completely, tap Uninstall > OK
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so you should keep your phone updated at all times. To check for new updates:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap About
- Tap Software information
- Tap Check now and if necessary, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
