Hey guys. This is my first post here, so here goes!

I am planning on buying a new phone and I'm considering the HTC 8125 and the 8525. I like both, but I just don't know if the 8525 is worth the extra money. What do you guys think? What is improved in the 8525?

Because I'm with Cingular, I can't really afford their internet plans and whatnot, so I'm pretty much buying the phone mainly for texting / IMing, games, etc. and of course.. phone calls.

First things first. How is the reception with these phones? I know that with my previous Smartphone, the Motorola MPx220, the reception was not that impressive. Which is a better "talking" phone? (8125 or 8525)

Secondly, I am really hoping to use AIM with my future mobile phone, so I would like one that either comes preinstalled with it or one that calls for easy installation. I was on a different forum for my MPx220 and the members said that I had to download some weird program in order to have it and that required using the internet or something.

    And last but not least...
What makes the 8525 so great? It costs so much more for what appears to be a similar phone to me...

    Thanks for your help guys!

The two main advantages of the 8525 are 3g and a more powerful processor.
Other than that the phones are pretty much the same. Call quality is better on 3g, and data is faster, which you apparently don't care about. But it is something to think about.
As far as the phones go, they both have wifi, which gives you free internet access at free wifi hotspots. The more powerful processor will make things go faster. To me, not having a data plan on one of these is kind of pointless. After all, the big advantage to them is to be able to get info from the internet while you are on the go.

    Oh, okay.
Do either of these phones come with AIM preinstalled?

You need to have it installed. And yes, it's recommended that you have an unlimited data plan. Otherwise, you'd have alot charges on your bill for usage. Best way to go around this is to go to a ATT/Cingular corporate store and ask the rep for the unlimited data plan that costs $19.99. for smartphones and regular phones. Afterwards, just slide the SIM card into the PDA phone.

Cingular wouldn't let me buy the phone without getting the internet also. I'm paying more $ for the Cingular internet than @ my house!
