Adding An Access Point

Before you add a new data connection on your phone, obtain the access point name and settings (including username and password if required) from your mobile operator. On the Start screen, tap the arrow button “->” .Tap 'Settings > cellular'. Tap 'add apn'. Enter the APN, user name, and password. Tap the checkmark when done.

Turning Data Connection On/Off

Turning your data connection off can help optimize your battery life. It can also save money on data charges. However, when your data connection is turned off, you may not always receive automatic updates to your email and other synchronized information. To toggle this feature, navigate to 'Settings > cellular'. Tap the 'Data Connection' switch (On/Off).

Turning Wi-Fi Connection On/Off

To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a wireless access point or “hotspot”. The availability and strength of the Wi-Fi signal will vary depending on objects, such as buildings or simply a wall between rooms, the Wi-Fi signal has to pass through. To turn this feature on or off, navigate to 'Settings > Wi-Fi'. From here, you can toggle the switch to turn Wi-Fi on or off. When turned on, it will automatically scan for nearby networks and attempt to connect to them.

Using Your Browser

On the Start screen, tap the Internet Explorer tile to start surfing the web. On the browser screen, you can tap the URL box at the top of the screen to input a URL, followed by tapping the “->” icon to begin loading the page. You can also format the pages for full-version display or mobile display; select '…' followed by 'Settings > Desktop Version' to enable the full version of websites (by default, the mobile version is displayed).

Turning Bluetooth On/Off

Turning Bluetooth makes it visible to other Bluetooth devices and allows for pairing and connection with other Bluetooth-ready devices. To enable Bluetooth, tap the “->” icon on the Start screen followed by 'Settings > Bluetooth'. There is an on/off switch that you can toggle; keep in mind that leaving Bluetooth on significantly drains the battery.
