Using a Google Account:

You can transfer contacts between two phones by simply syncing them to a Google account. To do so:

  1. Register your Google account on the HTC One S
  2. From the phone's "Settings" menu, tap "Accounts & sync"
  3. Tap "Google" and select the account you wish to use
  4. Clear and mark the "Contacts" check box, or tap "Menu" > "Sync all"
  5. On the HTC Desire 510, sign in with the same Google account
  6. From the home screen tap "Apps" and go to "Settings"
  7. Tap "Accounts & sync" and select the desired Google account
  8. Allow the account to sync contacts with your Desire 510

Use the "Import / Export" function and the "People" App:

The "People" app available on both HTC smartphones by default can be used to export the contacts stored on the HTC One S, after which the exported file can be transferred to the HTC Desire 510 and imported to the phonebook via the same "People" app

  1. Launch the "People" app on the HTC One S
  2. Access the "People" tab and press "Menu"
  3. Tap "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export contacts"
  4. Tap "Export to phone storage"
  5. Select an account and tap "OK". Make sure you remember the backup file's name
  6. Open the email client on your phone and compose a new email
  7. Attach the VCF file to the email and send it to your own Gmail address
  8. On the HTC Desire 510, open the email and download the attached VCF file
  9. After the file has been downloaded, open the "People" application
  10. From the "People" tab, press "Menu" and tap "Import / Export contacts"
  11. Tap "Import from storage", browse for the VCF file and import it

NOTE: after the VCF file has been created on the HTC One S, it can be transferred over to the HTC Desire 510 by connecting both smartphones to your computer via USB, and manually copy-pasting the file from one phone's storage to the other. Then, import the file via the "People" app as explained above

Using Send Anywhere:

Finally, you can also use "Send Anywhere", which is a third party application that can be used for transferring various types of files between phones, through a peer-2-peer connection. This method does not require access to a computer.

  1. Access the Google Play Store and download "Send Anywhere" on both HTC smartphones
  2. Launch the application on both smartphones once it has been installed
  3. On the sender device - the One S- tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Select the contacts you wish to transfer and tap "Send"
  5. Lastly, choose a method of transfer. By tapping "Receive" on the Desire 510, you can enter the randomly generated transfer code from the One S to commence the process. Otherwise, you can tap "Generate QR Code" on the One S, and scan the code with the Desire 510's camera to begin the transfer
