Back Up Data to Google Drive:

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Backup & reset”
  3. Tap “Backup account” and select “HTC account”
  4. If necessary, sign in with your account (alternatively you can use a Facebook or Google account)
  5. Tap “Google Drive” in the “Cloud Storage” menu
  6. Tap “OK” and gain access to Google Drive by registering your Google account
  7. Tap “Back up now”
  8. Optionally, turn on “Automatic backup”

NOTE: To enable daily auto-backups over Wi-Fi, go to “Settings” > “Back up phone daily over Wi-Fi”

Restore Data from Google Drive:

  1. After you turn on your device for the first time (or after a factory reset) tap to “Restore from HTC Backup”
  2. Sign in with the Google account containing the backup
  3. Go to the history menu, select the desired backup, and tap “Next”
  4. Sign in with your Google account and allow Drive to connect
  5. Wait for the phone to restore data and tap “next”

Back Up and Restore Data Locally

Back Up Contacts on the Storage / SD Card:

  1. Tap “Phone” on the home screen
  2. Access the “Phone” tab
  3. Tap “Menu” > “manage contacts” > “Import / Export contacts”
  4. Choose to “Export to SD card” or “Export to phone storage”
  5. Select an account, and tap “Yes” if you want to set a password for the backup file
  6. Tap “OK” to confirm

Restore Contacts from the Phone Storage / SD Card:

  1. Launch “Phone”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Manage Contacts”
  3. Tap “Import / Export contacts”
  4. Select to “Import from SD” or “Import from storage”
  5. If necessary, select an account
  6. Tap the desired backup and press “OK”
  7. Assuming that the backup file is password-protected, enter the password and tap “OK” to proceed

Back Up Messages:

  1. Launch “Messages”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Backup / Restore SMS”
  3. Tap “Back Up” > “Back up SMS”
  4. Optionally you can set a password for the backup
  5. Enter the desired name for the backup and tap “OK”

Back Up Messages via Email:

  1. Open “Messages” and tap “Menu”
  2. Tap “Back up / Restore SMS”
  3. Tap “Back up” > “Back up SMS via email”
  4. Optionally, set a password for the backup file
  5. Make sure the backup file is attached to the email, and send it to your own address

NOTE: To restore messages backed up using the method above, open the email client, download the attached vCard file, and import it via “Messages”

Back Up / Restore Tasks:

  1. Launch “Tasks” and tap “Menu”
  2. Tap “Import / Export”
  3. Tap “Export to SD card”

To restore tasks:

  1. Open “Tasks” and tap “Menu”
  2. Select “Import / Export” > “Import from SD card”

Back Up Your Dictionary:

  1. Open the phone’s “Settings” menu
  2. Tap “Language & Keyboard” > “HTC Sense input”
  3. Select “Personal dictionary” and tap “Menu”
  4. Choose to “Back up to email” or “Back up to storage”
  5. Tap “OK” to confirm
