Turn On Battery Saver Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Power
- Tap Power saver and tick the boxes next to the options you want to enable
- Tap the Power saver switch to enable the option
Decrease Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Under Phone tap Display & Gestures
- Tap Brightness level and if necessary, disable Adaptive brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- For additional options, tap Screen timeout in the Display & Gestures menu
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Turn Off Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot when unused, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Tap the switches associated with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to turn the features OFF
- For GPS options, scroll to and tap Location
- Then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Then tap Mobile network sharing and turn off Mobile Hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: In case your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to and tap Mobile data
- Tap Network mode
- Enable GSM only
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your apps / accounts to reduce sync, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to and tap Accounts & Sync
- Select an app to disable background process
- For additional sync options, select an account type and account
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes and can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings and scroll to Phone
- Tap Apps and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Disable to turn it OFF
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available for download:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap About
- Tap Software information > Check now
- If updates are available, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply them (NOTE: the update process will require a reboot)
