Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, high scores, user profiles, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the issues, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can solve the issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- Release Power once the phone vibrates
- At the hTC download menu release the volume buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to confirm
- At the No Command screen, press and hold Power and Volume Up at the same time
- Release the buttons once in Recovery and use the volume buttons to highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power and once done, highlight Reboot system now
- Press Power one last time to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If a third-party app causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the Power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to safe mode tap Restart
- Wait for the phone to reboot and once done, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- Open Settings and go to Apps
- Switch to Downloaded if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
