This is a sad statistic I hope everyone out there does try and do the smart thing with your phones.

As we noted in the article, another 41% give away or sell their old phones ... "re-use" is just as good for the environment as recycling, I think.

I absolutely agree. I usually sell my phones and someone who did not or could not buy it new, now has a chance to get it. It makes that person happy and does not negatively impact the environment. It also frees up funds for my new toy. A win-win situation if I ever saw one.
