I'm buying an 8600 Monday, and want to how to do a few music-related things:
- Is there any way I can transfer mp3s to my phone's music storage from my Mac. I'm always amazed, what with iPod and iTunes as the gold standard for portable music, how these cell phone makers are happy to embrace the inferior Windows Media platform, but leave out Mac capability. Macs can, of course, carry Windows Media Player thru version 9. Anybody know of a way to make this work?
- As above, any Mac-based program for turning your mp3s into your ringtones
Also curious how large is the 8600's music storage capacity. Thanks

Mac is fully supported by Verizon's software. It always has been. The 8600 can utilize a storage card up to 2GB. The phone itself has less than 20MB built in storage.

Re: LG 8600 mp3 transfer for Mac users?
Thanks Paulcman...so are you saying that I can plug a USB cable from my Mac to the 8600 and it will automatically download mp3 files with Mac-supported software and in the proper format, just like it would if I ran the cable from a PC? If so, what software would it use to do this...in the online 8600 manual it stipulates the need to use Windows Media Player 10 to enable this transfer, and WMP 10 is not available for Mac...the Mac platform is not even mentioned, if Verizon supports it.
And as far as trimming the songs and making them into ringtones, this forum has mentioned a proram called bitpim...does bitpim work on Macs, or is there a Mac alternative for this action?
Also, I'm told the 8600 has no stereo headphone jack...how do you play your mp3s out thru any other system than the tiny phone speaker...is there an apdapter available?

The problem is, you need to have just Mp3 files.. make sure they aren't iTunes DRMed files.. Also.. if it doesn't connect, use a different memory connect device.
