O.k. I know there are alot of you out there that are having issues with adding ringers to the LG Scoop, we all know it wont work through bluetooth and I cant get them to downloam myself.. With this, you do have to get the data cable, and I got mine from alltel through their jump music pack, was like $50 but hey.. What can you do...

Now when you get the bitpim and try to find the filesystem file you have to go up top, click view, and check filesystem and over on the left side, you will see the folder for it. Also when using the PC connection, select the com port option under mass store device. Then you are set. you can do the same steps with wallpaper, just need to find the folder where your wallpapers are stored.. Be carefull though for I dont know if deleting adding files to folders will mess the phone up or not so use at your own risk.

have the newest version of bitpim
make sure you have the drivers for the USB cable you are using.
    open bitpim
let it find the phone(it will come up as other CDMA phone)
click FILESYSTEM on the left at the bottom
    expand the folder
    click dload
right click on lg_mysound.dat and save it to your desktop
after you save it right click lg_mysound.dat in bitpim and delete it (this will redownload after you restart phone. might say cant download image message)

    now click brew
    click media
    click lk
    click ms

now drop the songs you want to use as ringers in this file. they will automaticlly load into your phone. it isnt the fastest process but it works.

after they are done loading onto the phone, unhook USB cable from computer, power the phone off and then back on.

the items you just transferred with now be in the my audio file where they need to be to assign them for individual ringers.

    NOTE:

everytime you wnat to add new ringers to the phone you have to complete all the steps above, even the deleting that one certain file. not a very hard process and has worked well for me.

good luck and happy mp3 loading songs into the phone as ringers.

Also I dont know if you have to delete lg_mysound.dat file, I do anyways. and still works.

Credit goes to fivelstang4 from another forum I read, thank you if you read this..

Re: Adding ringers and wallpapers to LG Scoop

I found a website called mobile17.com that sends you ringtones that you customize right from your computer! This isnt a scam or anything like that but all you do is join and then go to the part where it will send you the ringtone for free....it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours but its worth it! You can right click on your song from windows media player and get the information from where it is stored and then paste it to the file location on the website. The ringtone can be anywhere from 2 to 40 seconds long but recommend you keeping the first one to about 25 seconds or under! After that you just click the finish button on the bottom and then you will receive a txt message with the song attached and it sounds just as good if not better than anything you get off of Get It Now!

If anyone wants anymore information about the website you can just message me on here! Trust me this is a cool website that lets you customize the ringtone from where it starts and ends! Hope you try it!

Bitpim does see the phone (Thank you) and I can read the filesystem but when I delete that file and drag sounds to that directory, power off the phone and back on, I can't find the sounds on the phone anywhere. I can restart the program and the sounds are in that directory still.

I am getting closer just can't seem to find the ringers or assign them yet.

    Thank you.

    http://www.ventones.com

is the site i use for my phone. But the scoop is one of those phones that is tightly locked by alltel. One trick that ive successfully done with alltel,
is that i use their site to send 30 seconds ringtones to the phone. here's the link

    http://axcessmypics.com/jsps/forgotPassword

but the scoop is so tightly locked down, that when i receive the message, it gives an error

it does work for other phones like the rzr

Re: Adding ringers and wallpapers to LG Scoop

This process works great. I was able to transfer all of my personal ringtones over to the LG Scoop. The only problem I ran into was with the drivers. The link posted above would not work for my computer. However, I found another file using the offical LG Community site. The forum will not let me post a link, but a simple search will bring up the page.

    Thanks again for the help!

Re: Adding ringers and wallpapers to LG Scoop

I can put things in bitpim but I don't see any of it on the phone when I reboot it. I am trying wavs and mp3s. I put them in that folder specified above and the phone doesn't display it.

I really want free ringtones but I can't seem to get it to work. I have both new versions of bitpim.

    Anyone help?

Re: Adding ringers and wallpapers to LG Scoop

right click on lg_mysound.dat and save it to your desktop
after you save it right click lg_mysound.dat in bitpim and delete it

I just got my scoop today and went to do all the thing at the beginning of the thread but it would not let me delete the lg_mysound.dat file. It has been locked by the provider.
I downloaded the driver from verizon (for the env2) and it seems to work great.
I have the data cable from alltel.
Is there any other way to do this now that they have locked the file and it can't be deleted?
