I just picked up a LG 8700 I would like to transfer my contacts from my old phone, its a motorola, can this be done.

I assume you have verizon. Do you have backup assistant?

Assuming it is Verizon and you do NOT have the Backup Assistant stuff installed, you can take it to any nearby VZW store and they have a automated transfer utility that they can use for you. (Basically, they plug in your old phone, it downloads all the contacts; then they plug in your new phone and upload those.)

Best Buy Mobile stores do that as well. Even if the carriers are not the same for both phones.
