The title to my post likely gives it away. That is, I'm afraid this is not the forum to ask about the Micro SD card. Redirect me if necessary.
What I'm trying to do is copy a 3g2 movie clip from my PC to the card used in my
LG VX836. Keep getting the "disc protected" warning. ! I've done this before, with movie files too long or large in size to send as a flix. I tried the micro in both an SD adapter, and
also the SD adapter into another adapter, going to USB. I rebooted , tried copy-paste,
drag and drop from folder to folder. The adapter is not locked, and the micro disk has no lock. (that I can tell ? )
    Another forum?
    Thanks

Re: Copy to Micro SD card from PC

If you hadn't said you had done this before.. I would say that you're using an adapter that's not rated to read the size of card you are using (the SD HC cards require new readers even though they look exactly like non-HD cards). Is this the same reader and computer you used before?

Other things to look at. How big is the file? It may be too big for the file system (I can't verify right now if my 8GB SDHC is using FAT or FAT32).

Only a 2G micro disc. Sandisk. Says only "FAT" when I check properties of the disc on PC. Just confirmed that I have a nearly 8gig movie file that I copied to this same disc, and it plays on my cell just fine. I'm trying to copy anything now, 1 - 3 gig in size. The disc protected error still pops up. I looked at "sharing". It said to drag the folder (not disc) into another folder that pops up when you click on some underlined and hi-lited text, about sharing with all users.(sorry, already put back in cellphone) This didn't fix it. ??

I have to admit... that answer doesn't make a lot of sense. You say you have a 2GB card but you're put an 8GB movie on it and it worked. And you say you're trying to copy something 3GB in size and wondering why it won't fit on a 2GB card. Please stop trying to fold time and space, my cube is filling up with an infinite number of monkeys that want to discuss a new version of Hamlet they've written.

Since you didn't say FAT32, then there's one more thing that might be an issue. FAT/FAT16 has an absolute limit of 512 files in the root ("\") directory. No matter how much room you have left, the drive will report "full" once you have 512 files in that directory. You get around that by making sub-directories.

Copy to Micro SD card from PC

Ok, (not so) obvious error. Sorry. A bit under stress here. Absolutely meant in terms of Mbs, not Gbs. Movie on cell card now is 8mb, and 3 others around 2mb each. The new movie I am attempting to copy, also is around 5 Mbs . So, question remains, as does frustration.

Re: Copy to Micro SD card from PC

    Hmmm...

    We know the following:

    1) It's a 2GB SD (non-HD) card that you've been able to copy to using this computer and this adapter in the past.

    2) It's FAT format (normal for an SD) so you can't put 513 files on it in the root but that doesn't seem to be the problem

    3) You are right that the Micro-SD itself does not have a lock. The Adapter does but you say it's off. Some adapters are marked really BADLY so that lock looks like unlock. Try switching the lock the other way just for giggles.

If it weren't for #1 above... I'd say to try another computer because I've had some cards that simply REFUSE to work in some computers. No reason why, they just do. You might do that anyway to be sure.
