Using a Google Account:
NOTE: You can easily transfer contacts from an older Samsung Galaxy S device by syncing them with your Google account. Then you can re-sync the contacts from the account with the LG Tribute 2.
- Register your Google account on the Samsung device
- Press Menu on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Tap My Accounts and go to Google
- Tap your user name or email address
- Make sure Sync Contacts is enabled and tap Sync now
- Switch to the LG Tribute 2 and register the same Google account on it
- Allow the account to sync contacts with your LG phone
Using the Contacts Application:
NOTE: You can use the default Contacts app on the Samsung phone to export your contacts as a VCF backup file. You can then send the file to the LG Tribute 2, and import its contents using the phones default contacts app
- On the Galaxy device, open Contacts
- Go to the Contacts tab
- Press Menu > Contacts to display > All contacts
- Press Menu and tap Import / Export
- Tap Export to SD card (make sure you remember the backup files name for future use)
- Tap OK
- After the VCF file has been created, open the email application, compose a new email containing the VCF file as an attachment, and send the email to your own Gmail address
- On the LG Tribute 2, open the email and download the attached VCF file
- Launch the contacts app, press Menu > manage contacts > Import
- In the From field add the VCF file. Under To, select Google or Phone
- Select the contacts you want to import from the vCard file, or tap Select all
- Tap Import > Yes
NOTE: You can also transfer the VCF file from the Samsung device by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and manually copy > pasting it on the LG Tribute 2s storage.
Using Send Anywhere:
NOTE: Send Anywhere is a third party application capable of transferring contacts and other file types cross platform, through a P2P connection, without needing access to a computer.
- Visit the Google Play Store and install Send Anywhere on both smartphones
- Open the application on both devices
- On the Galaxy phone, tap Send > Contacts
- Select the contacts you want to share and tap Send
- Lastly, select a transfer method. You can tap Generate QR Code on the sender device and scan it with the LGs camera to begin the transfer. You can also tap Receive on the Tribute 2 and manually enter the randomly generated transfer code from the Galaxy phone
