WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all personal data stored on the devices internal memory will be deleted. This includes media files and ringtones, contacts, apps, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Before you reset the device, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data. Keep in mind that a factory reset will not affect data stored on the SIM and SD cards.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Launch Settings
- Go to the General tab and tap Backup & reset
- Check or clear the boxes next to Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account and select a Google account, or follow the on-screen steps to create or sign in with an account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Read the warning pop-up and choose whether to Erase SD Card too. WARNING! If you enable this option, all data stored on the SD card will be deleted during the factory reset
- Tap Reset phone > Next
- Tap Delete all > OK to confirm
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone through the settings menu as described above, alternatively you can try resetting the device from the Android Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- First, ensure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Power and Volume Down at the same time
- When the LG logo appears, quickly release and re-hold Power (keep Volume Down pressed in the meantime)
- When you gain access to Factory data reset, release all buttons
- Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the option
Check for Software Updates:
NOTE: After you factory reset your phone, its recommended to verify if new software updates are available for download. To do so:
- Launch Settings
- If necessary, access the General tab
- Scroll to, and tap About phone
- Tap Software info
- Check if a new update is available for download, and if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and install the available update(s). NOTE: This process will require a reboot
