Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps doesnt work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including settings, media files, save files and user profiles, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings and go to the General tab if necessary
- Under Phone management, tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Storage > Clear data > OK to confirm (check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre planning on factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phones internal storage.
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary and scroll to Phone Management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the cached data
- Tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Enable Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party apps are disabled by default. To reboot in Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- From the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Restart in Safe Mode, tap OK
- Wait for the phone to reboot. NOTE: a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings
- Access the General tab and tap Phone Management > Apps
- Select the desired application
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, press and hold Power and tap Power off and restart
