WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all the personal data located on the devices internal memory will be deleted, including contacts and media files, ringtones, apps etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values, but data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.
NOTE: You can check this thread for a guide on how to back up data before resetting the device, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Launch Settings
- Switch to Tab view if necessary
- From the General tab, scroll to Phone Management
- Tap Backup & reset
- Tick or clear the check boxes next to Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account and select the account you want to use for the backup
- When ready, tap Factory data reset
- Select whether to Erase SD Card too
- When ready, tap Reset phone and enter the screen lock password/PIN if needed
- Tap Delete all > Reset to confirm
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can reset the phone from the Android System Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing the following:
- First turn the device Off
- Next press and hold Volume down and Power simultaneously
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release all buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm the highlighted option
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings highlight Yes and press Power
