WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all the personal information stored on the internal memory will be deleted. This includes contacts and media files, apps, ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values. Data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the reset.
NOTE: You can visit this thread for instructions on how to back up data before the factory reset, and this thread for a guide on how to restore data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Access Tab view if necessary
- Go to the General tab and scroll to Phone management
- Tap Backup & reset
- Tick or clear the check boxes associated with Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account and select an account
- When ready, tap Factory data reset
- Optionally, select whether to Erase SD card as well
- When ready, tap Reset phone
- Enter your lockscreen PIN/password if necessary
- Tap Delete all > Reset
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise doesnt work as intended and prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you should be able to reset your device from the Android Recovery menu which can be accessed by performing the following.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Then, press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power
- From the Factory data reset screen, release all the buttons
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight Yes
- Press the Power button to confirm
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings highlight Yes
- Press Power one last time to confirm
