Clear an App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, such as user profiles and save files, settings, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Access Phone management
- Go to General and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt fix the issues, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data.
- Launch Settings and go to Phone management
- Tap Storage
- Tap Internal storage
- After the phone finished calculating the data, tap Cached data
- Tap Clear to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot the device in Safe Mode:
- Press and hold power while viewing the home screen
- Tap and hold the Power off option from the power management pop-up
- When prompted to Restart in Safe Mode tap OK
- Wait for the device to reboot
- After the process completes and the phone restarts, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area on the home screen
- To remove an app, go to Settings > Phone Management
- Tap Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- Once the app has been removed, you can exit Safe Mode by restarting the device normally
