WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the device will be deleted, including media files, ringtones, apps, downloaded content, contacts etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values, however data located on the SIM and SD cards won’t be affected.

NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  4. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  5. Tap “Backup account” and select the desired account
  6. Tap “Factory data reset” and optionally, choose to “Erase SD card” too
  7. Tap “Reset phone”
  8. If your device is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password to proceed
  9. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, you can also reset the phone from Android Recovery.

  1. Ensure the phone is powered Off
  2. Then, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. At the LG screen, quickly release and re-press “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all the buttons
  5. Navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. When prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings” highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” again to confirm
