Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps doesnt work as intended, it freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted. This includes save files, user profiles, login information, custom settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to General and tap Apps
- Select the desired app
- Go to Storage and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the app cache didnt solve the issue, tap Clear data > OK (check the warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Open Settings
- Go to Phone Management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
- Tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for a guide on factory resetting the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- In the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot in Safe Mode tap OK. Note that after the phone reboots, it should display a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first launch Settings
- Then go to Apps and if needed switch to All apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- Once done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
