WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including media files and ringtones, apps, downloaded content, contacts etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values, but data located on the SIM and SD cards won’t be affected.

NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Go to “Phone Management’ and tap “Backup & Reset”
  3. Tick or clear the boxes associated with “Automatic Restore” and “Back up my data”
  4. Tap “Backup account” and select the desired account
  5. Tap “Factory data reset”
  6. Optionally, select to “Erase SD card” as well
  7. In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password
  8. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the device from Android Recovery which can be accessed as follows:

  1. First turn the phone Off
  2. Next press and hold “Volume down” and “Power” at the same time
  3. At the LG screen, release and quickly press “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release the buttons
  5. Once in Android Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlight
  7. Highlight “Yes” again when prompted to “Erase all user data and restore default settings”
  8. Press “Power” to confirm
