WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, your personal data stored on the devices internal memory will be deleted, including media files and ringtones, apps, downloaded content, contacts etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values, but data located on the SIM and SD cards wont be affected.
NOTE: Before you reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Phone Management and tap Backup & Reset
- Tick or clear the boxes associated with Automatic Restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account and select the desired account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Optionally, select to Erase SD card as well
- In case your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password
- When ready, tap Delete all > Reset
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the device from Android Recovery which can be accessed as follows:
- First turn the phone Off
- Next press and hold Volume down and Power at the same time
- At the LG screen, release and quickly press Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release the buttons
- Once in Android Recovery, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlight
- Highlight Yes again when prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings
- Press Power to confirm
