Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications doesnt work as intended, freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try fixing this issue by clearing the app cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save files, personalized settings, user profiles etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.
- Launch Settings
- Access General
- Tap Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to factory resetting the phone but without the loss of personal data from the phone.
- Launch Settings
- Access Phone Management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Once the phone finishes calculating the data, tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- From the Power Management pop-up tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to Safe Mode tap OK
- Once the phone finishes rebooting, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To uninstall an app, first open Settings
- Go to Apps and switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- After the process is done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone as you would do normally
