WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, your personal data located on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones, media files, apps, contacts, downloads etc. In addition, all the settings will be restored to factory values, but data located on the SIM and SD storage won’t be affected.

NOTE: Before resetting the phone, you can check this thread for instructions on how to back up data, and this thread for a guide on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings” and go to “Phone Management”
  2. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  3. Clear or tick the boxes associated with “Automatic Restore” and “Back up my data”
  4. Tap “Backup account” and select the desired account
  5. When ready, tap “Factory data reset”
  6. Optionally, choose whether or not to “Erase SD card”
  7. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/password and tap “Continue” to proceed
  8. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your device crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the device using hardware buttons:

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  3. At the LG screen, release and quickly press “Power”
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen release the buttons
  5. To navigate the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore defaults” prompt, use “Volume” to highlight “Yes” and press “Power”
