WARNING! When you factory reset the device, all of your personal data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted, including ringtones and media files, contacts, downloaded content etc. Furthermore, all the settings will be restored to factory values but data located on the SIM and SD cards won’t be affected.

NOTE: Before you factory reset the phone, you can check this thread for a guide on backing up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Backup & Reset”
  4. Tick or clear the “Back up my data” and “Automatic Restore” check boxes
  5. Access “Backup account” and select the desired account
  6. Tap “Factory data reset”
  7. Optionally, choose whether or not to “Erase SD Card”
  8. If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN and tap “Continue”
  9. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Android Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise is preventing your from resetting it via Settings, you can try resetting the device from the Android Recovery menu using hardware keys.

  1. Turn the phone Off then press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” simultaneously
  2. At the LG screen, release and quickly press “Power”
  3. At the “Factory data reset” screen release all the buttons
  4. Next, navigate the menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly and highlight “Yes”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. At the “Erase all user data and restore defaults” prompt, highlight “Yes” and press “Power” one last time to confirm
