    Apparently Verizon and Motorola are paying commission to use the name 'Droid' from Lucasfilm Ltd. That's a pretty general word (now a days) to trademark, but I guess back in the 70's Lucas figured it would be a lucrative thing to do. He was right.

    Yeah i bet lucasfilm is making a bunch of money off of that now. I would have copyrighted everything i could from that movie if i was them.

    I think our Gov't is retarded for letting people trademark words in the first place.... just like patents on "gestures".... but of course anything retarded the Gov't will do....

    Of course it is. I dont understand all these people complaining about this, how ridiculous, it is only BECAUSE of Lucas that the term droid exists. Get over it and pay your dues. When youve made a 3 billion dollar empire, then you can charge for whatever words you want to own
