Hello Everyone! Wohoo FIRST POST! Ok, I so I have a Motorola V551 and I'm having problems with the keypad. Sometimes when I push "2" I'll get like "2222" and the same problem with some other keys. Also I have lost the function of some of the keys (ie: press the down arrow = nothing). I have gotten to the point of where I have ordered a new key pad itself (JUST the padded key pad) and was wondering how to go about replacing it.
I have removed the back of the face plate.
Removed the battery
Removed the antenna
Removed all 4 torx screws
Now I try to pry it apart, but it seems to be held together in the middle by something. I dont want to just pull and break something and then have to replace that as well. So my questions are...
1.) What else do I need to remove before I can separate the back pieces?
2.) If the rubber key pad is NOT the problem, can I replace the piece in which the key pad is placed on?

p.s. I currently have a Samsung A127 Go Phone. And I HATE it, I really would like to go back to this phone!

Re: v551 Keypad Problems (help replace!)
is there another screw in the middle of the circuit board or is there a clip like thing holding it in place?
some kind of mechanism of some sort is holding it in place, the issue is in finding that mechanism and unlocking it

Yea, thats where I'm stuck at. I dont want to pull to hard and break something "thinking" its just a clip holding it together, when it could be a screw of some sort.
Anyone else ever take one of these apart before? Or have an old one around to take apart?

Re: v551 Keypad Problems (help replace!)
Ok, just for a little update to this thread, I have figured it out! After removing the 4 torx screws from each of the corners, you will notice that on each side there are 3 verticle slots. When you try to take the phone apart, it seems as though it is still connected in the middle somewhere (as stated above). Well, those slots on each side is the missing link! The ones in the middle have little clips that you must unclip using a small flat head screwdriver. Just be careful when doing so; so that you do not break any of the plastic.
Ok, Now, I have put my new keypad However, the "Down" button still does not function. So I am wondering if I need to replace the keypad maylar?
Well, that's where I stand at this point! I'll check back later with updates.
