I just bought a motorola VU 204 phone from verizon wireless. Well it was free actually with a 2 year service renewal. Now I know why.

First off the biggest problem is this stupid voice command function. I think the function itself itself is unnecessary, but the problem is the key on the phone that activates it. This key is on the side of the phone right where I normally place my right hand/thumb when making a call. It is also extremely sensitive. So anyhoo...I'm always getting this annoying voice prompt at all times when I don't want it. I was able to change the voice prompt to a beep but it is still annoying. Plus I always fell like I'm going to accidentally call someone (I used to have a 'slider' model phone and this did happen a lot because the phone always slid open in my pocket....but that's another story) I contacted Motorola and they said there is no way to disable voice command and no way to remap this key. Is this correct?

Another minor complaint about this phone is that the call volume seems to be very low. I can't seem to raise it to a very high level at all. Ok this is actually a major complaint as well

    Re: VU204:Can I disable Voice Command/remap key?

I have a VU204 from Verizon. I called their support line and they told me that there is no way to disable the button. Now, I cannot be held responsible if you do what I did, but I found that you can remove the button with a knife or pointy object and still use it if you really want. What you do is stick the knife in the hole with the button on the side that is toward the back of the phone. Then you slide the button piece out toward yourself. This will probably void the warranty. Also, I am not responsible if you should destroy your phone or stab yourself like a retard.
CAUTION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO YOURSELF OR YOUR PHONE!

    Re: VU204:Can I disable Voice Command/remap key?

The voice command button is a nuisance, probably designed by a snot nosed kid. Cannot disable it. Has anyone tried to remove it?

Earpiece volume is so low this phone is unusable.
