    Hi All,
We live out in the boonies and the only 3G and 4GLTE we get coverage from is Verizon.

I went to their site and got confused by all the options, so here's what we want...
    1:
Like to get rid of our DSL land-line and Tether for about 6G/Month streaming Netflix Youtube etc
    2:
Maybe 50-each of emails, Texts and phone calls per month.

    Questions...
    1:
Is 3G fast enough for what we want? I know LTE is faster, but the following questions reflect why I ask.
    2:
    ..a:
..Should we get the $99 3G only Moto G?
    ..b:
..Should we get the full $179 for LTE - but just use 3G?
    3:
Can the $179-Moto G be used in the UK, Asia, Australia and new Zealand when on a trip visiting kids in maybe a year or two?

Just a start to the questions I suspect, we are total newbies to these new fangled phones.

    Thanks

What is the $179 Moto G you are referring to? I'm only seeing one offered on Verizon's site: Moto G - Verizon Wireless

From what I can tell it doesn't have 4g LTE data at all. You would be able to use it overseas though. I don't believe it is locked, and it does have a GSM antenna.

Hi John and thanks for the reply.

First off I am amazed that a you are not aware of the $179 Moto G. It's the one Google recently announced unlocked for $179. Available on the Google play store, Amazon etc. It is, I believe, LTE compatible. Sorry this site does not allow me to post links (too few postings-DUH - UNLIKE Freeunlock peppering the listings!!) but just do a search on amazon for "moto g".

The one on the Verizon site is *almost* the same phone but with no way to have a SIM card and also maxed at 3G reception and thus lower cost.

I still need to know the answers to the speed question. Will 3G do the Netflix thing? If so then I can get the $99 prepaid and worry about Global use later. Maybe rent another phone for that duration and have calls redirected to it.

ohhh. I thought you meant that Verizon was offering a $179 Moto G. I get it now: Amazon.com: Motorola Moto G - Global GSM - Unlocked - 16GB: Cell Phones & Accessories (btw, there are advertisers that pay to post links to their services)

Yeah, I wouldn't count on 3g for Netflix unless it was HSPA+. If you have that in your area, which you probably do if you have 4gLTE coverage, then go for it.
