Turn ON Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Battery”
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling your phone’s connectivity options when unused, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the “Status” bar down with two fingers
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth” and “Location” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. For more options, open “Settings”
  4. For additional GPS options, go to “Location” > “Mode” and select “Battery saving”
  5. To disable Wi-Fi Hotspot, go back to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Next, tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and set the switch OFF

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Turn on “2G”

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the “Status” bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  3. Go to “Settings” for more options
  4. Next, scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. Tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value

Change Sync Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: By changing your accounts/apps’ sync settings to reduce sync, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Accounts”
  4. Select an existing account and disable the desired sync options

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party applications perform regular background processes, which means they can potentially affect battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from the phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps” and make sure “All Apps” is checked in the drop-down menu
  4. Select the desired app
  5. Tap “Force Stop” to disable the app, or tap “Uninstall” to remove it from your phone

NOTE: Alternatively, you can remove an app from your phone by opening the apps drawer on the home screen and then dragging & dropping the app’s shortcut over the “Uninstall” section at the top.

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for new updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Verify if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it. NOTE: The updating process will require at least one reboot
