Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data to your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic restore” to allow app data to be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
  3. Select the account type and account you want to use for syncing
  4. Enable “Contacts” if necessary
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Motorola Moto G5 to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer and use it to locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  4. Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the computer storage
  5. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Motorola device to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media Device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Launch the File Explorer on the computer and locate the media file backups on the PC storage
  4. Copy and transfer the backup files on the phone storage, preferably in the folder(s) they originate from or the “Media” directory
  5. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
