Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including save games, settings, profiles, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Tap Apps and make sure All Apps is selected at the top of the screen
- Select the desired application
- Go to Storage and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, you can alternatively tap Clear data > OK (NOTE: Check WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone doesnt work as intended, freezes, crashes, or otherwise prevents you from factory resetting it, you can try fixing these problems by wiping the phones cache partition. This can yield results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the internal memory.
- First make sure your phone is powered Off
- Next, press and hold Power and Volume Down at the same time, for at least 5 seconds
- Once you gain access to Boot Mode Selection Menu, release both buttons
- From the menu, press Volume down to navigate to and highlight Recovery
- Press Volume Up to select the highlighted option
- At the No Command screen, press and release Power and Volume Up repeatedly until you gain access to the Android Recovery menu
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down to navigate to and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- After the cache partition is wiped Reboot system now should be highlighted
- Press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app on your phone that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled.
- Wake up the screen if necessary
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- In the pop-up window, tap and hold Power Off
- When asked to reboot in Safe Mode, tap OK to confirm (NOTE: once the phone reboots, it should display a Safe Mode watermark in the lower-left corner of the screen)
- Next open the Settings menu
- Access Apps and make sure All Apps is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
- Select the desired application and tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, simply power-cycle the device as you would normally do. Press and hold Power and tap Power Off
