Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, Wi-Fi passwords, settings to your Google account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data and settings to be restored automatically when reinstalling apps and signing in with the backup account

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “Accounts”
  3. Tap the desired account type and select the account you want to use for syncing
  4. If necessary, enable “Contacts” if necessary
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

NOTE: Contacts backed up using the method above can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your Google backup account.

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Moto G5 Plus to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired media files on the phone storage
  4. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
  5. After the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Moto G5 Plus to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
  5. Copy and paste the backup files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
  6. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
